Carol Clewlow (below), bestselling author of A Woman's Guide to Adultery, has been appointed the first writer in residence at Newcastle University's medical school. Ms Clewlow will run creative writing workshops for medical undergraduates, underlining the department's philosophy that the humanities play an important role in the creation of a good doctor.
