Kazak students defy president
At least 120 Kazak students at religious colleges in Islamic countries are defying orders from president Nursultan Nazarbayev to return home. The order, triggered by concern over fundamentalist influences, went out in September, but so far only 10 students have returned -- from Pakistan.
RC colleges shirk priest shortage
Only 39 per cent of Roman Catholic colleges in the United States have drawn up plans to address the shrinking population of nuns and priests, according to a survey of 172 Catholic institutions by the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges.
