University of Lagos v-c resigns
The vice-chancellor of the University of Lagos, Jelili Omotola, has resigned over his failure to secure senate approval for a satellite centre of the University in Seoul, capital of South Korea, or to supply detailed accounts to an independent commission of inquiry which found its accounts were in deficit. The university’s bursar and registrar have been dismissed.
Five-year course in carnival
The higher institute of art in Gualeguaychú is offering Argentina's first higher education diploma in carnival studies. The five-year course includes the history of Latin American pagan feasts, the psychology of entertainment, choreography, sensory perception, carnival costumes, music and Portuguese. Gualeguaychú’s 12-night carnivals are among Argentina’s most celebrated fiestas.
