Twelve US students have won scholarships to study in Ireland as a tribute to George Mitchell, the American senator who helped shape the Northern Ireland peace process.
The Mitchell scholarships for high-fliers are the initiative of the US-Ireland Alliance, a Washington-based, non-profit organisation, and are part-supported by Northern Ireland's Department of Higher and Further Education, Training and Employment.
The 12 students are spread throughout Ireland's universities, including two at Queen's University, Belfast, and one at Ulster University.
