More Britons choose a US education
The number of UK students enrolled at US universities has reached a high of 8,046, up 2.9 per cent on 1998-99. But enrolments from other countries have risen faster – by 4.8 per cent. The UK lies 14th in the list of countries with students enrolled in US institutions.
Williams president heads US college earners
A total of 74 presidents of private colleges in the US were paid at least $300,000 in 1998-99, according to the annual survey by The Chronicle of Higher Education . Top earner was Harry C. Payne, who was paid $878,222 in salary and benefits as president of Williams College, Massachusetts.
