Glasgow Caledonian University has opened the world's first centre dedicated to political song.
Former Labour MEP Janey Buchan has donated material that ranges from street demonstrations and pantomime to opera and that dates back to the 19th century. To craft a collection of historical and political significance, CGU has also bought items from around the world.
Ian Johnston, GCU's principal, said: "Songs, anthems and even operas have been used as political tools throughout the ages. Songs are a fascinating and legitimate area of academic study."
