Muslims denounce women's football in Kuwait
Kuwait University is under pressure to cancel a women's football tournament due to take place today after the Muslim Brotherhood denounced it as a disobedience to God for women to take part.

Brazil exempts public students from fees
Brazilian MPs have exempted state school students from enrolment fees at the Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro and the Universidade do Estado do Norte Fluminense from 2002. The students have also been guaranteed a share of grants equal to that of private school students from this year.

Danish scientist plans ice drill for Mars
Dorthe Dahl-Jensen of Copenhagen University’s Niels Bohr Institute hopes to develop an ice drill that can be sent to Mars to investigate the planet's ice-caps.
