Victory for downgraded dons
Twenty-one foreign-language lecturers at the University of Verona who were downgraded to technical staff following a change in Italian law in 1995 have had their status restored by a Trieste court. They were each awarded 47 months' pay with interest. The university was ordered to pay legal expenses totalling €50,000 (£30,000).
