No room for rage

Tempers flared at the University of the West of England last term.

Rod Coleman, director of the modular scheme at the univer-sity, last week issued the following memo on changeovers between sessions in the main lecture theatres.

"Following an unfortunate case of 'tutor rage' before the break, I have been asked to ask you to remind academic colleagues that lectures should finish by 25 minutes past the hour (at the very latest) in order to avoid congestion at changeover time... the large numbers of students involved now make this a health and safety issue and we must try to avoid stressful situations."
