Luton University politics lecturer Pat Gray this week won the World One Day Novel Cup. Mr Gray wrote his 20,000-word The Political Map of the Heart, which is about his childhood in Belfast, in just 12 hours. He beat off competition from 50 other aspiring novelists, and his novel has already been rushed into print.
