International conference to examine computational methods and experimental measurements

April 25, 2002

Brussels, 24 April 2002

An international conference on computational methods and experimental measurements, organised by the Wessex Institute of Technology, UK, the University of Naples, Italy and the University of Thessaloniki, Greece, will take place in Halkidiki, Greece, from 12 to 14 May.

The event will provide an overview of the latest work on the interaction between computational methods and experimental measurements. Whilst computer models have been increasingly successful in simulating a range of engineering problems, it is essential that advances in these models are validated and verified against experiment.

Experimental measurements are conditioned to the requirements of computational models. It is therefore important that scientists working on experiments communicate with researchers developing computer codes and carrying out measurements on prototypes. The concurrent development of all fields is essential for the progress of engineering sciences.
