Turner Prize 2002 nominees announced
This year's nominees for the £20,000 Turner Prize are: Fiona Banner, who has used pornography and war for inspiration; Liam Gillick, who builds partitions out of wood and transparent plastic; Keith Tyson, whose painting has been inspired by scientific theories and Catherine Yass, who is acclaimed for her vivid, brightly coloured photographs.
Widespread UK water shortage predicted
Scientists in Oxfordshire are warning that water shortages will become increasingly widespread across the UK because of climatic change and the growth in housing. The Centre for Ecology and Hydrology in Crowmarsh Gifford said one possible solution could be "harvesting rainwater".
