(Photograph) - Global vision: the European environmental satellite ERS-2, above, will be launched next week carrying eight instruments, including the along-track scanning radiometer (ATSR-2), built by the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory. ERS-2 will measure sea temperature to monitor global warming. It will also record a global ozone map every three days and keep tabs on the sizes of forests and deserts.
