Brussels, 07 June 2002
Norway will present biotechnology as the next wave of the knowledge-based economy at the 9th meeting of the Norwegian Research and IT Forum on June 20 in Brussels.
Representatives from DG Enterprise and DG Research, as well as from the Norwegian and Belgian governments, will introduce the participants to the strategies foreseen for the life sciences and biotechnology under FP6 and how these will affect Norway and its contribution to Europe.
More in depth sessions will be also on selected areas such the use of life sciences and biotechnology for health or food quality and safety and concrete research opportunities will be explored. The meeting will end with presentations on the industrial aspects of biotechnology in the European landscape and Belgium and Norway in particular.
