The president of the Central Africa Republic has appealed to Libyan leader Colonel Muammar Gaddafi for immediate aid to pay staff at the country's National University. Lecturers, who have received no salaries for six months, have begun an indefinite strike and threatened to refuse to set and mark end-of-session examinations.
