The European Commission's Research DG has published a prior information notice for a call for tenders for a study on national, international and professional training material for ethics in research.
The Commission intends to launch an invitation to tender within the framework of the European research area (ERA) and the implementation of the science and society action plan ethics committees.
The contract will contribute to the science and society action plan action 31: 'model courses will be developed in order to raise the awareness of researchers in the field of ethics'. This is in line with the policy of the Sixth Framework programme (Article 3), which says that EC research activities have to conform to ethical principles stated in the European Charter of Fundamental Rights.
The estimated value for this procurement is 40,000 EUR.

Remarks: The scheduled start for the start of the contract award procedure is during the second semester in 2002.
