An event which will analyse opportunities for regional cooperation in south eastern Europe will take place in Sofia, Bulgaria on 29 and 30 September.
One of the main areas to be discussed is the potential for countries in the region to integrate into the European research area (ERA), as well as participation in the forthcoming Sixth Framework programme.
The event will also analyse the obstacles to further close cooperation and to researcher mobility both within the region and with other regions. As well as giving a regional perspective, there will also be country presentations.
Bulgaria's Minister for science, Professor Dr Vladimir Atanassov, has said that he feels that the conference will be one of the region's contributions to forming a European research area.
