European CO2 capture and storage seminar, London

November 28, 2002

Brussels, Nov 2002

With the support of the Research DG of the European Commission, Technology Initiatives Ltd, as the co-ordinator of CO2NET, is organising a seminar entitled 'FP6: opportunities for CO2 capture and storage' in London on 8 January 2003.

The event is based on the premise that, in the transition towards a more sustainable energy economy, fossil fuels are likely to remain the primary source of global energy supply for the foreseeable future. The objective is to continue to use fossil fuels whilst eliminating CO2 and other polluting emissions and, at the same time, maintain Europe's industrial competitiveness in global markets.

The programme of the event will include:

- Presentations from representatives of the European Commission on the content and structure of the Sixth Framework Programme, and, specifically, on the calls for proposals process.

- Presentations by potential proposers (on the basis of submitted expressions of interest) on the objectives, scope and structure of possible consortia for new actions.

- Opportunities for making contacts and finding partners for potential projects.

Some 200 stakeholders and potential proposers are expected to attend the seminar.
