Brussels, 02 Dec 2002
EREC, the European Renewable Energy Council, is organising a conference on renewable energy sources for islands, tourism and water desalination in Crete, Greece on 26 to 28 May 2003. This conference will focus on providing solutions for renewable energy integration in islands, tourism and desalination.
Renewable energy sources are capable of solving many problems related to security of energy supply, environmental protection and economic development. They are especially suitable for covering the energy needs of islands and the tourism sector and can successfully be applied to technologies such as desalination.
The conference is aimed at experts and decision makers; Government representatives; representatives from international agencies and programmes; managers of islands' energy systems; energy agencies; universities, research and technical institutes; tourist associations and hotel managers; industrial associations and operators; technology providers and service suppliers; consultants and project developers.
The organisers have also issued a call for papers. Those interested should send a one-page abstract to the EREC by 10 January 2003.
