Full-time higher education student numbers in Scotland are at record levels. Full-time numbers rose by 10 per cent from 1992/93 to 132,509 in 1993/94, and the proportion of women full-time entrants was 48 per cent, a rise from 43 per cent in 1980/81. In 1993, graduates and diplomates totalled 31,384 compared to ,810 in 1992. 62 per cent gained first or second-class degrees, up from 52 per cent in 1985.
