An informal workshop, entitled 'science meets policy: new experiences - future perspectives', focusing on the environment and the European Research Area (ERA), will take place in Heraklion, Crete, Greece, on 29 and 30 April.
Following up on previous meetings, the workshop will assess the thematic concordance of European environmental polices and research (at both EU and national level) and the challenges to science-policy relations with regard to the new instruments under the Sixth Framework Programme. Emphasis will also be placed on research into sustainable development and the new action plan on environmental technology.
The event is being organised by the Greek General Secretariat for Research and Technology in collaboration with the Commission's Research DG
