Brussels, 09 May 2003
An information day on nanotechnology in the Sixth Framework Programme (FP6) and related activities in the Scandinavian region will take place in Copenhagen, Denmark, on 12 June. The event will also officially establish Nanoforum, the event organiser, as a forum for initiating projects under FP6.
Funding for nanotechnology research is higher under FP6 than any of its predecessors, and the Commission is urging more researchers to become involved, particularly small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs).
The event will include presentations from European Commission representatives and leading Scandinavian researchers, as well as the views of SMEs on how to participate in FP6. Industry expectations of FP6 will also be discussed, in particular the question of whether such research will lead to the development of products.
