Warwick University Business School scored a double first this week as a married couple passed their PhD vivas on the same day, for first time in its 40-year history.
Argentinian husband and wife Ariel Casarin, 33, and Maria Euginia Delfino, 32, celebrated their success together last Friday.
The couple began studying for MScs in economics and finance at Warwick in 1996, just a week after getting married. They enjoyed the course so much they came back to study for doctorates, handing in their theses three months ago.
They were relieved to receive viva dates close together as they had moved to Buenos Aires.
Dr Casarin's thesis was on the regulation of the gas industry in Argentina.
Dr Delfino carried out an economic study of the banking industry. Both have secured academic positions in Buenos Aires - but at separate universities.
