Queen's University, Belfast's director of communications Tom Collins has rejected tribunal claims that he flouted fair employment laws in the appointment of a publications officer.
Catholic Patrick McWilliams is alleging he was discriminated against on the basis of religion and gender three years ago after the post of publications officer went to a Protestant woman.
A verdict is expected in the next four to six weeks.
