An umbrella organisation for UK bioscientists was launched this week. The Biosciences Federation, formed from the Institute of Biology and UK Life Sciences Committee, has 20 member societies. It aims to provide a unified voice in promoting the interests of its members to government.
Colin Blakemore, the new head of the Medical Research Council, is to be the first president.
