Years of pioneering research into sporting performance has been lost in a blaze causing millions of pounds worth of damage at Strathclyde University. More than 100 firefighters battled the fire, which broke out on Tuesday evening in the Scottish School of Sports Studies and was still burning in the basement on Wednesday. Forty students and staff were evacuated safely, but the education campus surrounding the building was closed.
