A European institute is to be created to help scientists interpret the floods of data emerging from genetic research, coordinating studies and ultimately establishing a European School of Bioinformatics. The BioSapiens Network of Excellence is being launched with a €12 million (£8.2 million) grant from the European Commission's sixth framework programme, as part of its effort to forge a European Research Area.
