Oxford University is planning to set entrance tests for history and English amid concerns that too many students are gaining top grades at A level. The university said this week that an aptitude test for history could be introduced this autumn, with an English test next year. The aim is to distinguish between the large number of candidates predicted to get straight As in their A levels, the university said.
