A single super-union representing more than 100,000 lecturers could be agreed by next spring following talks between Natfhe and the Association of University Teachers. Following a meeting hosted by the Trades Union Congress last week, initial proposals will go the the national executive committees of both unions in October, and firm plans will be put to the unions' conferences in spring 2005.
