Glasgow University's long-delayed rectorial elections have resulted in a win for Mordechai Vanunu, the Israeli nuclear whistleblower, whose dealings with foreigners are restricted.
Mr Vanunu won by 1,033 votes, with former Scottish and British Lions rugby player John Beattie polling 793 votes. The other nominees were Annas Alamudi, Indonesian peace campaigner, and Jenni Keenan Green, who stars in the BBC Scotland soap River City .
