Warwick University's "learning grid" is an open-learning space that students can use any time, day or night, individually or in groups, to polish teambuilding, problem-solving or presentation skills. Staff are on hand, as are facilities such as digital multimedia, reference material, wireless networking, video editing, video players, internet points and presentation rooms. It is not a hush-hush place: students can talk, eat and use mobile phones. A spokesperson said: "It's a 24/7 environment where students can get together to do projects or whatever else they like."
