When Aydın Adnan Menderes University (ADU) was founded in 1992, it had just five faculties: arts and humanities, economics and administrative sciences, medicine, veterinary, and agriculture. Today, it has16 faculties offering a wide range of degree programmes at both undergraduate and graduate level.
There are 16 vocational schools at the university including the Sultanhisar Vocational School, the Didim Vocational School, and the Kuyacak Vocational School. There are also three institutes: the Institute of Science and Technology, Health Sciences Institute, and the Institute of Social Sciences.
Students can participate in the diverse array of extracurricular activities, cultural events, and sports programmes.
The university is named after Adnan Menderes, a prominent Turkish politician who served as the Prime Minister of Turkey in the 1950s.
As its name suggests, the university is located in Aydın, a city in southwestern Turkey.
