World University Rankings 2018 by subject: education

The 2018 Times Higher Education World University Rankings’ table for education subjects employs the same rigorous and balanced range of 13 performance indicators used in the overall World University Rankings, but the methodology has been recalibrated to suit the individual fields.

It highlights the universities that are leading across education, teacher training, and academic studies in education subjects.

It is a brand new ranking for 2018 and includes 100 institutions.

The education table marks the first time that an Asian university has made a top-five position in a THE World University Rankings list. The University of Hong Kong is fourth in the education list (compared to 40th in the overall table), largely because of its very high score for research.

Other Asian institutions also perform much more strongly in the education table compared to the overall world rankings. The Chinese University of Hong Kong is 20th (compared to 58th overall), National Taiwan Normal University is 22nd (501-600) and Nanyang Technological University is 27th (52nd).

Institutions in Japan and South Korea also feature, while elsewhere in the Asia-Pacific region, Australia has three universities in the top 30.

Overall, 10 Asian universities make the top 100 list and 18 countries make the top 100, compared to just 16 nations in the world top 100.
