Luton University was this week reborn as Bedfordshire University after taking over De Montfort University's campus in Bedford.
Luton used the merger with De Montfort's Polhill campus as an opportunity to rename and rebrand itself.
The new institution, which has 17,000 students, is investing £34 million at the Polhill campus to create an £8 million sports science laboratory building, a new 280-seat theatre and en-suite halls of residence worth Pounds 20 million. Bedfordshire will retain its main Luton site.
