Penny Green could not be more wrong in arguing that universities should be “boycotting all government institutions in Myanmar”, including higher education providers, in the wake of the crackdown on Rohingya Muslims (“Universities pressured to cut Myanmar ties”, News, 2 November).
Isolating Myanmar academics and students will further entrench minds here: the government and the military will respond in kind, setting the country back to the bad old days. That is good for no one, except those whom Green hopes to “punish”.
