The Rowett Research Institute, which specialises in nutrition research, plans to merge with Aberdeen University to form a centre of excellence in nutrition and human health. The institute aims to combine its expertise with Aberdeen's experience in biomedical and applied health sciences, to tackle issues such as obesity, gut health and mental health.
The merger would create one of the largest groups of microbiologists in the country.
