Cambridge University has appointed its first chief investment officer to manage its endowment funds.
Nick Cavalla, chief investment officer of Man Global Strategies, will join the university and take on its £1.2 billion fund in April next year. It is hoped that he will help Cambridge to compete with super-rich US counterparts such as Harvard and Yale universities.
