Two research councils that were accused of risking the lives of researchers working in Islamic countries with their plans for a Foreign Office-supported project called "Combating Terrorism by Countering Radicalisation" have issued a revised call for proposals.
In October, the Economic and Social Research Council and the Arts and Humanities Research Council were forced to withdraw the initiative after academics raised concerns about it through The Times Higher .
This week, a new advertisement calling for proposals has been placed in The Times Higher . Up to £2.5 million will be available for the jointly funded project, now titled "New Security Challenges: 'Radicalisation' and Violence - a Critical Reassessment".
