Dundee University has averted the prospect of a ballot on industrial action by agreeing with the unions to avoid compulsory redundancies as it begins a Pounds 4.7 million savings programme.
Carlo Morelli, the president of Dundee UCU, said: "We welcome the decision but reserve our right to initiate a ballot on industrial action if the university attempts to renege on its agreement with the union."
