Durham University has been awarded Fairtrade status by the Fairtrade Foundation, the charity dedicated to helping disadvantaged producers in the developing world to get a better deal for their produce.
The award comes in recognition of work by the student union and university authorities to ensure fairtrade goods, such as clothing and food, are stocked in campus shops and served at official meetings.
