The University of Central Lancashire has formally opened the Tyndall Centre for Nuclear Research. The Centre will be the first of its kind in the UK offering both consultancy and research, but also focusing on training future nuclear industry workers, the university said.
The opening comes as a survey by energy company Doosan Babcock reveals that 87 per cent of the UK's leading energy experts say that the industry is facing a serious skills shortage.
