A consortium of six West Midlands universities led by Aston has launched an initiative to address the decline of language teaching in the UK. Designed to challenge perceptions and "encourage young people to recognise the benefits on a personal and professional level", it will give many an opportunity to experience languages ranging from Catalan to Czech, Ukrainian to Urdu, alongside those spoken in Western Europe.
