You can sleep on it, walk it, even climb it. Now Janet Folkes from Nottingham University's School of Mechanical, Materials and Manufacturing Engineering plans to fly over it. Dr Folkes, a scientist with string of world records in ballooning to her name, is making preparations to pilot a hot-air balloon over the Great Wall of China. Dr Folkes, from Bulcote in Nottingham, took up the sport in 1984 and holds 46 world records in ballooning and the Silver Medal of the Royal Aero Club.
