The £5.3 million Library and Learning Centre at Bournemouth University has beaten 18 other candidates to the Library Design Award, presented every five years by the Society of College, National and University Libraries. It rewards the best new or refurbished higher education libraries. Bournemouth was commended for a number of innovative features such as its "spaces for group and social learning in a variety of informal clusters".
