Nobel laureate Bert Sakmann has joined the research team at Ulster University's Biomedical Sciences Research Institute. Professor Sakmann was awarded the 1991 Nobel Prize for Physiology, with his research partner Erwin Neher, for discoveries concerning the function of single-ion channels in cells.
