Four "mini" vice-chancellors have been appointed to lead new academic colleges at Birmingham University. In a major reorganisation, the 19 schools are being replaced with five unified colleges. The professors chosen to lead four of the schools are Anne Pauwels, who joins from the University of Western Australia; Malcolm Press, from Sheffield University; and Edward Peck and Lawrence Young who are internal appointments. The head of the fifth college has yet to be appointed.
