A £9.6 million grant will bring young science stars to two Midlands universities. The money, awarded by the Higher Education Funding Council for England from its strategic development fund, has gone to the universities of Warwick and Birmingham to establish the Birmingham Warwick Science City Interdisciplinary Research Alliance, part of a region-wide initiative championing scientific research. It will help to recruit 15 to 20 young researchers in science, engineering and medicine, who will be appointed as staff in one of the two universities and will be given an honorary position in the other.
