Two papers from Queen's University Belfast have been declared "current classics" by Thomson Scientific, which says that they are among the most referenced in the world by geoscientists. Twenty-five academics, including Paula Reimer, Mike Baillie and Gerry McCormac, were involved for three years in compiling a 2004 paper on carbon dating, which has been cited more than 520 times. Dr Reimer was also involved in writing a 1998 paper on radiocarbon age calibration that has been cited nearly 2,500 times. Henry Small, chief scientist at Thomson Reuters, which compiles the information, said of Dr Reimer's work: "To have been involved as an author on two such papers is an extraordinary achievement."
