The University of Tokyo leads the resources pillar after a one-year hiatus, while Kyoto University once again tops the outcomes pillar and Akita International University again leads on engagement.
Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU) is now number one for environment, after overtaking Akita International.
The 2022 ranking includes 273 universities. Pillar scores are only provided when the university is in the top 200 for that pillar, and those ranked between 150 and 200 are given a banded score.
The metric on international exchange programmes uses scores from last year’s ranking, because of the instability caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, as explained here.
