Oxford and Cambridge rise up the table, replacing York and Manchester in the top two positions

The University of Oxford tops the table for sociology, rising from fifth in 2014. Its GPA increased from 3.19 to 3.55. The University of Cambridge also improved its position considerably, rising from 12th to second with a GPA of 3.54, up from 2.98 in 2014.

The University of York – first in 2014 – was fourth this time despite improving its GPA from 3.27 to 3.47. The University of Manchester dropped one place from second to third and the University of Edinburgh dropped from sixth to 14th with a GPA of 3.24, up from 3.16.

At a national level the Sociology UoA has a GPA of 3.15, with 40 per cent of its submission rated 4*. 1103.54 FTE staff were submitted to this UoA.
